Dr. Aaron B. Waxman is the director of the Pulmonary Vascular Disease Program at Brigham and Women’s Hospital (BWH). His research into the regulation of cell death proteins by IL-6 cytokines in mice led to the discovery of a relationship between dyspnea and mitochondrial dysfunction, and resulted in additional clinical studies examining the abnormalities of inflammatory mediators and oxygen extraction in patients with PAH. He has authored over 110 peer-reviewed publications and has received funding from the National Institutes of Health and the National Heart, Lung, and Blood Institute.
