Philosophy of care | Personalized care starts during my first meeting with a patient and family. That's when I get to know the patient as completely as possible. I want to know about the patient's concerns, values and support system so I can provide care that is specific to him or her. | Also, I am a member of the skin and soft tissue cancer multidisciplinary consultation team. Together we review your diagnostic information and give you a written opinion reflecting the scope of your condition and recommendations for your best course of care. | Why I entered medicine | When I was young, I didn't like seeing doctors. It created a lot of anxiety for me. Now that I'm older, I can relate to the way people feel, especially when they're coping with the emotions caused by a serious condition like cancer. My grandmother died of uterine cancer in the 1960s. During her battle, I felt helpless. That is what attracted me to cancer research. Now I see the amazing progress we are making through cancer research. | Community involvement | I served on the state board of the American Cancer Society. Today, I take more of a grassroots approach to offer my support. I participate in events, such as 5K runs, that benefit charities. Dr. Nair is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in the treatment of Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC). Philosophy of care | I like to focus on patient education. When patients are educated on their disease process, it empowers them. Patient participation and empowerment means they can share their opinions, knowledge, experience and expectations with health professionals to make informed decisions. This can only improve satisfaction with the care they are receiving. | Why I entered medicine | I'm a people person. I started in an engineering career but switched to medicine because I wanted to help people and form long-lasting relationships with them. I find this much more rewarding than sitting at a desk all day in front of a computer. | Community involvement | I have a son with autism. Philosophy of care | The first thing a physician must do is to listen to his patient, allowing treatment of the person rather than just the diagnosis. I believe in a team approach when caring for patients that includes physicians from multiple specialties as well as physician assistants, nurses, pharmacists and others to provide the expertise and attention you deserve. | Why I entered medicine | Urology care incorporates several aspects of medicine. Although many patients require surgical management, others require medical management alone. Having all these tools, both operative and medical, makes the management of urologic patients challenging and interesting. My interest in urologic surgery also stems from the broad application of state-of-the-art technology. Whether it is robotic surgery, minimally invasive endourologic treatment of stones and tumors, or the latest treatment techniques for benign prostatic hyperplasia (BHP), I am proud to be able to offer these techniques. | Community involvement | I have participated in free prostate cancer screening clinics annually. | Personal interests | I enjoy the outdoors, fishing and hunting mostly, depending on the time of year. I also have a passion for food and love to cook. It's a shared passion with my wife, a chef by trade. Philosophy of care | Attention to detail is the philosophy best suited for urology. Each of the many facets of your patient history – physical exam, lab tests and radiologic studies – apply in providing you care. I treat patients as one treats a family member – with love, consideration, patience and understanding. | Why I entered medicine | Medicine is a field that allows you to take care of God's most precious gift – life. I find urology a particularly interesting and all-encompassing specialty. I am involved in every aspect of patient care, starting with diagnosis, medical and perhaps surgical treatment, and lifelong follow-up. Urologists treat a variety of disease processes involving organs such as prostate, kidney, bladder, testicles, penis and urethra. | Community involvement | I have gone on medical missions to Brazil, the Philippines and Haiti to help people in dire need of medical attention. I also have worked with underserved populations for the past five years and learned about the many obstacles they face regarding receiving health care. | Personal interests | I enjoy spending time with my children, golfing, cooking, working out and going to restaurants with my wife. Dr. Georges is rated as an Experienced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC). His top areas of expertise are Obstructive Uropathy, Hydronephrosis, Bilateral Hydronephrosis, Ureteroscopy, and Prostatectomy.

Philosophy of care | I believe in involving patients in every step of their journey, specifically by incorporating your beliefs and viewpoints into the treatment plan for personalized and compatible care. Cancer treatment is rapidly advancing and the personalized care now extends to understanding each patient's unique tumor biology with the goal of targeted therapy. I see the field only getting more exciting as we discover new diagnostic and therapeutic means for achieving unprecedented results and improving quality of life. | Why I entered medicine | One thing that drew me to oncology was the level of depth at which the doctor-patient relationship functioned. I have always appreciated the enormous responsibility we as physicians have to our patients and their loved ones with regards to transparency and evidence-based care and this is paramount when treating someone with cancer or a blood disorder. | Community involvement | As a medical student, I participated in a medical service trip to the Himalayas in Northern India where we camped at various sites to establish tent clinics as a means of providing care to local people who otherwise would not have had access. Medical aid abroad has always been a passion of mine and in the future, I would very much like the opportunity to participate in similar programs to provide oncologic care and preventative services in developing nations as well as on the home front. | Personal interests | I enjoy traveling with my family. I am of Italian origin and enjoy visiting Italy to tour historical sites, try different local dishes, and spend time with family and friends. I love running for multiple reasons and lately have participated in the Philadelphia Half Marathon for the past few years and train by trail running with my four-legged companions. My wife and I bond over cooking together and we both enjoy hiking, exploring the outdoors, and going to the orchestra and theater for productions. Philosophy of care | Effective medical care begins with a deep understanding of each patient’s circumstances and needs. The physician-patient relationship is foundational and must be a two-way dialogue built on trust and respect. I prioritize learning what truly matters to you and your family. I offer treatment recommendations and options that align with your values, preferences and goals. While my clinical focus is on blood disorders and blood cancers, listening carefully and tailoring care to patients is the heart of everything I do. I provide guidance and recommendations, but the decisions ultimately belong to you, the patient. I strongly believe in a team-based approach, where collaboration and communication yield the best outcomes. | Why I entered medicine | When I started college, medicine was the farthest thing from my mind; I was an economics major and took the MCAT on a whim. To my surprise, I scored far better than expected for someone without a science background, and that led me to medical school. Looking back, I can’t imagine doing anything else. Medicine – and caring for patients – has become my true passion. My path into the field was unconventional but led me exactly where I was meant to be. Practicing hematology and oncology isn’t just a career for me – it’s the only thing I can see myself doing. | Community involvement | As a part of cancer center leadership, I participate in local events and charities for patients with cancer and blood diseases, including speaking to the leukemia/lymphoma society. I am particularly fond of events centered around running for cancer charities. | Personal interests | Running is a personal passion of mine – second only to medicine and my family. What is the definition of Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC)?

Renal cell carcinoma (RCC) is the most common type of kidney cancer (90%) and originates in the lining of the renal tubules (small tubes in the kidney) that filter and clean the blood, remove waste products, and produce urine. Renal cell carcinoma occurs more often in men, people who smoke, or who have other kidney disorders, as well as individuals with a family history of kidney cancer or inherited disorders that increase the risk of renal cell carcinoma (see Causes below). Renal cell carcinoma is categorized by the following stages: Stage I – Tumor is in kidney, has not spread (metastasized), and is 7 centimeters or less. Stage II – Tumor is in kidney, has not spread, and is larger than 7 centimeters. Stage III –  The kidney cancer is any size and has spread to near lymph nodes (metastasis); or the cancer has spread to blood vessels in the kidney or nearby blood vessels (renal vein or vena cava), to the parts of the kidney that collect urine, or to the layer of fat surrounding the kidney and may have spread to nearby lymph nodes. Stage IV – The cancer has spread outside the fat surrounding the kidney, and may have spread to the adrenal gland on top of the kidney or nearby lymph nodes; or the cancer has spread to other areas of the body, such as the adrenal glands, distant lymph nodes, liver, lungs, brain, or bone. The stage of renal cell carcinoma determines its treatment and outcome (prognosis).

When should I see a Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctor near Allentown, PA?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

      • Your primary care provider recommends it.
      • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
      • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
      • You need specialized testing or procedures.
      • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctor near Allentown, PA?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctors near Allentown, PA?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctors near Allentown, PA?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctor near Allentown, PA?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctor near Allentown, PA?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

      • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
      • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
      • Family history of disease
      • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
      • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
      • List of questions and concerns
      • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctor?

      Here are some sample questions:

      • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
      • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
      • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
      • Are there other specialists I need to see?
      • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Renal Cell Carcinoma (RCC) doctors near Allentown, PA?

Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.
