Overview
Clayton Cooper, MD, specializes in family medicine and provides care for all ages with a special interest in HIV prevention through PrEP, gender-affirming care, inclusive primary care for LGBTQ+ individuals and medically assisted weight loss. He also speaks Spanish.|“I love being a family doctor,” says Dr. Cooper. “I'm inspired by the difficult changes I see people make, whether it’s quitting smoking, losing weight or starting to exercise again.” He wanted to become a provider so that he could help people through science while also teaching others. “I have the privilege to partner with patients of all ages to help them stay healthy or guide them back to health when sick,” he says.|Dr. Cooper grew up in Hummelstown, Pa., and attended Juniata College. He earned his medical degree from Penn State, where he also earned a Master of Business Administration. But, he adds, “After completing my family medicine residency at Duke University in North Carolina, I’m happy to be back in central Pennsylvania!”|He’s the recipient of awards including the AAFP Award for Excellence in Graduate Medical Education (2020), World Health Organization Young Leader (2018), Poets & Quants Best and Brightest MBA Graduates (2018) and Top 100 Worldwide MBA Graduates (2018).|In his spare time, Dr. Cooper enjoys running, hiking, swimming, boating, skiing, biking and just getting outside. He loves spending time with family and friends and traveling to new places to experience new cultures.
