Dr. Matt A. El
Overview
Dr. El-Kadi is vice chairman and clinical professor of neurological surgery at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine and serves as chief of neurosurgery at UPMC Passavant. He specializes in the treatment of complex spine disorders, including spinal fusion and instrumentation, and minimally invasive spinal surgery, with a special interest in the removal of primary and secondary spinal tumors. Before joining UPMC, Dr. El-Kadi received training in complex spinal surgery at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. After completing his neurosurgery residency training at West Virginia University, he completed a neurosurgery research fellowship at LAC – USC Medical Center and a clinical fellowship in neurosurgery at Hartford Hospital, University of Connecticut. He is board-certified in neurological surgery. Dr. El-Kadi began his surgical career doing brain surgery, and the minimally invasive techniques used then have served him well as a spine surgeon. Matt El-Kadi, MD, specializes and is certified in neurological surgery by the American Board of Neurological Surgery. He practices at Tri State Neurosurgical Associates UPMC and is affiliated with UPMC Jameson, UPMC Horizon, UPMC Mercy, UPMC St. Margaret, UPMC Presbyterian, and UPMC Passavant. He completed a residency at West Virginia University School of Medicine, AO International Institute, Los Angeles County USC Medical Center, and at Allegheny General Hospital. Dr. El-Kadi completed his fellowship at University of Connecticut School of Medicine and earned his medical degree at Second Moscow State Pirogov Medical Institute.
