Dr. Scott Resig

Dr. David Weinstein specializes in sports medicine, knee surgery, and shoulder and elbow disorders. He completed fellowship training at Columbia-New York Orthopedic Hospital in New York City in shoulder and elbow reconstruction and an additional fellowship overseas in orthopedic trauma. Dr. Weinstein is a graduate of the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where he remained to complete his orthopedic surgery residency.As associate clinical professor at the University of Colorado Department of Orthopedic Surgery in Denver, Dr. Weinstein is an avid researcher and passionate educator. He has published numerous papers and given lectures relating to his specialties. Dr. Weinstein has held many prestigious positions including head physician for the 2003 US Pan American Games team and the 2004 Athens Summer Olympic Games. He was a team physician for the United States at the 2000 Sydney Summer Olympic Games and the 2002 Salt Lake City Winter Olympic Games. Dr. Daniel Ocel is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who joined a division of OCC - Cornerstone Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in 2005. He is fellowship-trained in foot and ankle reconstructive surgery and also practices general orthopedics and sports medicine. His approach centers on compassionate, individualized care tailored to each patient. Dr. Ocel graduated summa cum laude from Creighton University School of Medicine, where he received a Health Professions Scholarship from the U.S. Navy. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago, earning the Weinstein Award as the outstanding chief resident. Following residency, Dr. Ocel served as head of orthopedic surgery at Naval Hospital Corpus Christi and was awarded the Naval-Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his service. He then moved to Sydney, Australia, to complete a foot and ankle fellowship with Dr. Martin Sullivan, caring for many of the country’s top professional and Olympic athletes. He later completed an additional fellowship with Dr. Robert Anderson at the Miller Clinic in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Ocel is a member of the Colorado Medical Society, American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. Dr. Derek Purcell is a board-certified, fellowship trained orthopedic surgeon who specializes in sports medicine, with a concentration on conditions and injuries of the shoulder and knee.  His expertise is in advanced arthroscopic techniques for the shoulder and knee, complex knee ligament reconstruction, cartilage restoration, and joint replacement for the knee and shoulder. Dr. Purcell graduated Summa Cum Laude from the University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa.  After attending the University of Virginia School of Medicine, he completed his Orthopedic Surgery residence as well as Sports Medicine and Shoulder Fellowship at Barnes-Jewish Hospital/Washington University in St. Louis. During his fellowship, Dr. Purcell served as assistant team physician for the St. Louis Rams (NFL), Blues (NHL), and Cardinals (MLB).  He was a former member of the NFL Team Physicians Society.  He has served as a physician for the St. Louis Cardinals spring training camp in Jupiter, FL as well as assisted with the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, IN. In Colorado Springs, Dr. Purcell serves as a Team Physician for Colorado College Athletics.  He has also assisted with the care of multiple high school athletic teams.  He currently assists with Vista Ridge High School, Colorado Springs Christian School, and Cheyenne Mountain High School.  He is a member of the American Orthopedic Society for Sports Medicine and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons.
