I pursued the specialty of Orthopaedic surgery as I was drawn to the opportunity to care for patients on their journey to maintain or return to an active and healthy lifestyle. In particular, the subspecialty of foot and ankle surgery was especially appealing as the foot and ankle serve as the foundation for the entire musculoskeletal system, with a broad array of pathology and patient populations being affected. I have the honor of caring for patients of all walks of life including all ages and activity levels. Dr. Robert is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in the treatment of Tendinitis. I am the head of shoulder surgery at Duke. Connecting with and caring for patients is very rewarding and is the reason I went into medicine. I take pride in providing both operative and non-operative treatments based not only on the latest research and evidence but also on the unique individual needs and expectations of each patient. Being a tertiary level surgeon means that I frequently manage patients sent to me by other surgeons. “The needs of the patient come first” and “first do no harm” are two phrases that guide me during every patient interaction. This ensures that each patient receives the same care as I would provide a family member of mine. I am supported by an excellent team that all share the same mission of outstanding patient care. In my spare time, I enjoy traveling, reading, and staying active. Dr. Anakwenze is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in the treatment of Tendinitis. My pursuit of a career in orthopaedics has come as no surprise to those around me. Growing up on our family horse farm in Mechanicsburg, Pennsylvania, afforded me many mechanical tasks. Foot and ankle orthopaedics was an obvious choice: the diverse patient population, challenging surgeries, and the ability to help my patients get back to the activities they enjoy most. As medical missionary Dr. Albert Schweitzer said, “At times our own light goes out and is rekindled by the spark from another person. Each of us has cause to think with deep gratitude of those who have lighted the flame within us.” It is my responsibility, but also privilege as a surgeon, to empower my patients with ‘that light’, through optimism, knowledge and ultimately relief, through both non-operative and surgical means. I perform a variety of reconstructive procedures, including: fore/midfoot surgeries, ankle arthroscopy and cartilage restorative surgery, tendon/ligament repair/reconstruction, lower extremity fracture care, ankle replacement and fusion, diabetic Charcot reconstruction (including use of Ilizarov thin-wire frame techniques) and advanced deformity reconstruction for conditions related to arthritic, neurologic, congenital or acquired conditions. Dr. Schweitzer is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Tendinitis. His top areas of expertise are Achilles Tendon Rupture, Metatarsalgia, Tendinitis, Osteotomy, and Tenotomy.

Helping my patients maintain their athletic identity in the face of injury is the heart of my work as an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. My experiences as a collegiate gymnast, runner, and mom of athletes helps me understand the mental and physical benefits of sports participation and exercise. My goal is to return my patients to the activities that are meaningful to them as safely as possible while minimizing risk of re-injury. I have special interest in treating adolescent knee injuries including ACL tears and patellar instability, elbow injuries, and shoulder instability. I also treat shoulder pain in patients of all ages and commonly perform arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs. Shoulder function is key to many people’s daily living and independence, in addition to athletics. I am thrilled to be a member of the Duke Sports Medicine team and the Wake County community. Dr. Ross is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Tendinitis. Her top areas of expertise are Tendinitis, Osteoarthritis, Hypermobile Joints, Tenotomy, and Endoscopy.

I am a sports medicine and shoulder surgery specialist. I try to treat all patients as individuals and family. I grew up in North Carolina where I attended public schools through college. I do complex shoulder surgeries, such as reverse shoulder arthroplasty, total shoulder replacement, and superior capsular reconstruction for irreparable rotator cuff tears. I also do complex knee ligament surgery (ACL and others). I have had the good fortune to study at Harvard Medical School and later with international leaders in knee and shoulder surgery in Switzerland and France. Recognition as the NC Sports Medicine Person of the Year and Outstanding Orthopaedic Resident Teacher at Duke University Medical School are among my greatest honors. I worked for 7 years in Cooperstown, New York where baseball injuries were a focus of mine. Returning athletes, grandparents, and weekend warriors to their highest level of function is my goal. Conservative care and rehabilitation are tried first, but if surgery is needed, I employ the most advanced, minimally invasive techniques using pain blocks for anesthesia to minimize the need for opioids and get home early and safely. Dr. Lassiter is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Tendinitis. His top areas of expertise are Osteoarthritis, Tendinitis, Acute Pain, Tenotomy, and Osteotomy.

I’m an orthopaedic surgeon that specializes in elbow, wrist and hand injuries. I treat fractures, sports injuries, and acute traumas, as well as more common ailments like tendonitis, carpal tunnel, arthritis and trigger fingers. The best thing about going to work every day is that regardless of the number of patients I have at a time, I have the opportunity to make a difference in each patient’s life. Duke offers cutting edge technology and research, but we also excel in patient care. That combination makes Duke a special place for our patients. Outside of work, I like to spend time with my wife and two children. We enjoy following the Boston Red Sox and local baseball teams. For exercise I like to run, swim and play tennis. Dr. Richard is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Tendinitis. His top areas of expertise are Carpal Tunnel Syndrome, Tennis Elbow, Mononeuritis Multiplex, Osteotomy, and Bone Graft.

I received additional training in arthroscopic treatment of hip disorders such as femoroacetabular impingement, labral tears and gluteal and hamstring tendon disorders. I was one of the first two fellowship trained North Carolina shoulder specialists when I began my practice at Duke in 1992. My career over the past 23 years has focused on shoulder care and shoulder surgery. My practice focuses on the diagnosis and treatment of patients with all types of shoulder pain. All available resources are considered in improving the patient's symptoms and function without having to operate. But many patients need anatomic restoration of the shoulder to enable them the clinical improvement they seek. My practice Southeastern Orthopedics Shoulder Center, an affiliate of Duke Health, where I personally see and evaluate all patients during each of their visits. We try to personalize the care for all patients because even though we see many shoulders, it is paramount to state that every person's shoulder problem is different. Every person is different. We take pride in our pain management strategies for patients who have shoulder surgery. Our anesthesiologists are terrific with nerve blocks and we use multimodal strategies including cryotherapy to diminish the postoperative pain and improve overall the patients perioperative experience. Dr. Speer is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Tendinitis. His top areas of expertise are Osteoarthritis, Frozen Shoulder, Tendinitis, and Bursitis.

What is the definition of Tendinitis?

Tendons are the fibrous structures that join muscles to bones. When these tendons become swollen or inflamed, it is called tendinitis. In many cases, tendinosis (tendon degeneration) is also present.

When should I see a Tendinitis doctor near Cary, NC?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

    • Your primary care provider recommends it.
    • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
    • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
    • You need specialized testing or procedures.
    • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Tendinitis doctor near Cary, NC?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Tendinitis doctors near Cary, NC?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Tendinitis doctors near Cary, NC?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Tendinitis doctor near Cary, NC?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Tendinitis doctor search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Tendinitis doctor?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Tendinitis doctor near Cary, NC?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

    • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
    • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
    • Family history of disease
    • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
    • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
    • List of questions and concerns
    • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Tendinitis doctor?

    Here are some sample questions:

    • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
    • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
    • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
    • Are there other specialists I need to see?
    • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Tendinitis doctor may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Tendinitis doctors near Cary, NC?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Tendinitis doctor search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Tendinitis doctor that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Tendinitis doctor search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
