Originally from Minnesota, Dr. David M. Bierbrauer joined Cornerstone Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, a division of OCC, in 2011. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, whose primary interest is in hand and elbow surgery, as well as a secondary interest in trauma care and sports medicine. Dr. Bierbrauer is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Western Orthopedic Association, and Colorado State Medical Society. Prior to working at Cornerstone Orthopedics, Dr. Bierbrauer graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology and Chemistry from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. He attended The Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, where he was a Dean’s Award recipient. After medical school, Dr. Bierbrauer completed his residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital and his fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute in Louisville, KY. In 2011, he worked at Front Range Orthopedics in Colorado Springs from 2005-2011. As the official US Ski Team Physician, he has had the opportunity to travel internationally to France and Canada. Originally from Seattle, WA, Dr. MacTaggart joined OCC-Cornerstone Orthopedics and Sports Medicine in 2019 after completing advanced training in hand and upper extremity surgery. She specializes in the full range of hand, wrist, and elbow conditions and offers the latest treatments, including fracture care, microvascular surgery, nerve decompression, repair or reconstruction, fusions and replacements, bracing, injections, and arthroscopy. Dr. MacTaggart is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, the American Society for Surgery of the Hand, and the American Academy of Hand Surgery. Prior to working at OCC-Cornerstone, Dr. MacTaggart graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, where she also played on the women’s soccer team. She attended medical school at The University of Washington, graduating magna cum laude and was nominated to the Alpha Omega Alpha medical honors society. After medical school, Dr. MacTaggart completed her residency training at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. Following residency, she completed a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at The Philadelphia Hand to Shoulder Center/Thomas Jefferson University in Philadelphia, PA. Prior to working at Orthopedic Centers of Colorado, Dr. Madureira obtained a Bachelor of Science at Tulane University in New Orleans, a Master of Public Health from Columbia University in New York and attended medical school at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in PM&R at Montefiore Medical Center in New York where she served as chief resident in her final year. Subsequently she completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital – assisting with sideline & training room coverage from the high school to professional levels. She has earned several accolades including resident of the year as well as the Leo M. Davidoff Society award for Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students. He has a special interest in diagnostic and therapeutic musculoskeletal ultrasound and focuses on aligning treatment with each patient’s recovery needs and goals. Dr. Caballes earned a Bachelor of Science in Molecular Cellular Biology from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign and a medical degree from Touro College of Osteopathic Medicine in New York City. He completed his residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at NYU Medical Center, where he served as Chief Resident, followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship at NYU. His training included working with endurance athletes at the NYU Running Performance Lab and artists at the Juilliard School and Harkness Center for Dance Injuries. While in New York, he developed a passion for running, joining the Prospect Park Track Club and volunteering with Back on My Feet. In Colorado, he continues to care for runners and triathletes at all levels, from recreational to Olympic athletes. He is a Level 1 certified USA Track and Field coach and was selected to serve as a volunteer physician for the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Committee in 2020. He also teaches sports ultrasound nationally and serves as a clinical instructor for multiple medical programs.
