Originally from Minnesota, Dr. David M. Bierbrauer joined Cornerstone Orthopedics and Sports Medicine, a division of OCC, in 2011. He is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon, whose primary interest is in hand and elbow surgery, as well as a secondary interest in trauma care and sports medicine. Dr. Bierbrauer is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgery, American Society for Surgery of the Hand, Western Orthopedic Association, and Colorado State Medical Society. Prior to working at Cornerstone Orthopedics, Dr. Bierbrauer graduated Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Biology and Chemistry from St. Olaf College in Northfield, MN. He attended The Chicago Medical School at Rosalind Franklin University, where he was a Dean’s Award recipient. After medical school, Dr. Bierbrauer completed his residency at the University of Illinois at Chicago Hospital and his fellowship in Hand and Microvascular Surgery at the Christine M. Kleinert Institute in Louisville, KY. In 2011, he worked at Front Range Orthopedics in Colorado Springs from 2005-2011. As the official US Ski Team Physician, he has had the opportunity to travel internationally to France and Canada. Prior to working at OCC-Cornerstone, Dr. MacTaggart graduated summa cum laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in biology from Pacific Lutheran University in Tacoma, WA, where she also played on the women’s soccer team. After medical school, Dr. MacTaggart completed her residency training at the University of Washington in Seattle, WA. He continued his passion for orthopedics by completing his residency at the University of Cincinnati and affiliated hospitals. As a graduating chief resident he was selected as the recipient of the Peter J. Stern MD award “in recognition for outstanding qualities in professionalism, patient care, and teaching.” He then decided to pursue subspecialty training and completed an Upper extremity/Hand fellowship at Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center in North Carolina. During fellowship he received the Fellow’s Clinical Science Silver Award by the Wake Forest Division of Surgical Sciences for his research on nerve injuries. Dr. Choudhry has several research endeavors that have been presented at national meetings and published in prestigous scientific journals. She is an active member of the American Medical Society for Sports Medicine & the American Academy of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation. Prior to working at Orthopedic Centers of Colorado, Dr. Madureira obtained a Bachelor of Science at Tulane University in New Orleans, a Master of Public Health from Columbia University in New York and attended medical school at the New York Institute of Technology College of Osteopathic Medicine. She completed her residency in PM&R at Montefiore Medical Center in New York where she served as chief resident in her final year. Subsequently she completed a fellowship in Sports Medicine at Burke Rehabilitation Hospital – assisting with sideline & training room coverage from the high school to professional levels. She has earned several accolades including resident of the year as well as the Leo M. Davidoff Society award for Outstanding Achievement in the Teaching of Medical Students. He completed his orthopedic residency at Penn State University, followed by a Sports Medicine Fellowship at Ohio State University, gaining advanced training in arthroscopic surgery and team coverage across multiple sports, including football, soccer, hockey, and gymnastics. His experience includes work with teams such as the Columbus Chill, Hershey Bears, and the U.S. Under-17 Soccer Team during a European tour. Locally, he has provided sideline coverage for Ralston Valley High School Football for over five years. Dr. Mann is also committed to community service, volunteering with Habitat for Humanity, Denver Hands for Hope, and serving regularly as a camp doctor and committee member with Young Life Central Denver. Dr. Daniel Ocel is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon who joined a division of OCC - Cornerstone Orthopedics & Sports Medicine in 2005. Dr. Ocel graduated summa cum laude from Creighton University School of Medicine, where he received a Health Professions Scholarship from the U.S. Navy. He completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Illinois in Chicago, earning the Weinstein Award as the outstanding chief resident. Following residency, Dr. Ocel served as head of orthopedic surgery at Naval Hospital Corpus Christi and was awarded the Naval-Marine Corps Commendation Medal for his service. He then moved to Sydney, Australia, to complete a foot and ankle fellowship with Dr. Martin Sullivan, caring for many of the country’s top professional and Olympic athletes. He later completed an additional fellowship with Dr. Robert Anderson at the Miller Clinic in Charlotte, NC. Dr. Ocel is a member of the Colorado Medical Society, American Orthopedic Foot & Ankle Society, and the American Academy of Orthopedic Surgeons. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications and serves as a reviewer for leading journals including Journal of Hand Surgery, HAND, and JAAOS.
