Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center Arringdon
I am a sports medicine and shoulder surgery specialist. I try to treat all patients as individuals and family. I grew up in North Carolina where I attended public schools through college. I do complex shoulder surgeries, such as reverse shoulder arthroplasty, total shoulder replacement, and superior capsular reconstruction for irreparable rotator cuff tears. I also do complex knee ligament surgery (ACL and others). I have had the good fortune to study at Harvard Medical School and later with international leaders in knee and shoulder surgery in Switzerland and France. Recognition as the NC Sports Medicine Person of the Year and Outstanding Orthopaedic Resident Teacher at Duke University Medical School are among my greatest honors. I worked for 7 years in Cooperstown, New York where baseball injuries were a focus of mine. Returning athletes, grandparents, and weekend warriors to their highest level of function is my goal. Conservative care and rehabilitation are tried first, but if surgery is needed, I employ the most advanced, minimally invasive techniques using pain blocks for anesthesia to minimize the need for opioids and get home early and safely. Dr. Lassiter is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in Tenotomy. His top areas of expertise are Osteoarthritis, Tendinitis, Acute Pain, Tenotomy, and Osteotomy.
Duke Ambulatory Surgery Center
I am a shoulder, knee, hip, and sports medicine surgeon at Duke Health and am heavily involved in minimally invasive arthroscopic techniques and the prevention of sports injuries. I cultivated these interests during my time in the military. My areas of interest and expertise are in shoulder and knee injuries in athletes and techniques and treatments to return these patients back to high levels of function or sport. I treat conditions, such as shoulder dislocations, rotator cuff tears, and shoulder arthritis with a joint replacement. My knee expertise is in ligament, cartilage, and meniscus injuries. I am involved in research, technique, and product development for each of these conditions to better help my patients. Dr. Dickens is rated as a Distinguished provider by MediFind in Tenotomy. His top areas of expertise are Hypermobile Joints, Frozen Shoulder, Tendinitis, Osteotomy, and Endoscopy.

Helping my patients maintain their athletic identity in the face of injury is the heart of my work as an orthopaedic surgeon specializing in sports medicine. My experiences as a collegiate gymnast, runner, and mom of athletes helps me understand the mental and physical benefits of sports participation and exercise. My goal is to return my patients to the activities that are meaningful to them as safely as possible while minimizing risk of re-injury. I have special interest in treating adolescent knee injuries including ACL tears and patellar instability, elbow injuries, and shoulder instability. I also treat shoulder pain in patients of all ages and commonly perform arthroscopic rotator cuff repairs. Shoulder function is key to many people’s daily living and independence, in addition to athletics. I am thrilled to be a member of the Duke Sports Medicine team and the Wake County community. Dr. Ross is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in Tenotomy. Her top areas of expertise are Tendinitis, Osteoarthritis, Bursitis, Tenotomy, and Osteotomy.
