Jacob Gorbaty, MD, enjoys working with patients and families toward the goal of leading active, healthy, and fulfilling lifestyles. Dr. Gorbaty believes this can be achieved in many ways through the combination of collaboration, education, and treatment.Medicine is a team sport including himself, primary care, nurses, radiologists, medical assistants, physical therapists and, the most important member - the patient. Because of this, Dr. Gorbaty believes it is especially important to listen to the patient, understand how their life is affected, and learn more about their short and long-term goals. In this way, the patient helps to guide and direct the course of care.Knowledgeable patients are empowered to make the best decisions regarding their care. Therefore, he first takes the time to describe his diagnostic process, the physical exam, and any advanced testing. Next, he wants his patients to understand what the condition is and how it developed. Then he tries to lay out treatment options and present an honest assessment of the risks and benefits of each. Lastly, he explains the scope of the recovery process and realistic possible outcomes.Treatment begins with diagnosis, which involves a comprehensive evaluation. Many of the conditions he encounters can be treated by non-surgical techniques and he believes it is important to use the tools he has to avoid unnecessary surgical risks. When surgery is the recommended course, he combines proven time-tested principles with cutting-edge techniques.Dr. Gorbaty loves working with his patients who often share similar interests, who lead or have led active lives, and who want to get back to doing so. He enjoys building a relationship and learning what is important to them; what their passions and goals are. This gives him purpose and drives him to deliver the best care possible.Dr. Gorbaty enjoys hiking, snowboarding, camping, kayaking, climbing, and cycling with his wife (a pediatrician) and their dog. They also enjoy travel, film and food.

Tyler J. Nathe, MD, is an orthopedic surgeon treating both sports medicine and general orthopedic patients. His practice has a special focus on arthroscopic surgery and sports injuries as well cartilage transplant procedures and the treatment of complex fractures. He finds great satisfaction in helping athletes of all types return to action.Dr. Nathe received his BS in chemistry and medical degree from the University of Washington. He completed his residency at UC Davis, one of the top orthopedic training programs in the country. He then completed a fellowship in orthopedic sports medicine and arthroscopy at UC Davis. He is a published author on the topic of sports medicine with articles appearing in The American Journal of Sports Medicine and Clinical Orthopaedics and Related Research. He was honored with an award for his research on injuries in collegiate baseball players. Dr. Nathe has lectured on topics that include complex ligament reconstruction of the knee and shoulder problems in overhead athletes.Dr. Nathe was a collegiate student-athlete competing in soccer for one season with Bellevue College and a spring season with the University of Washington. That summer he sustained a knee injury wakeboarding and focused his efforts on cycling. He competed in road, mountain, and cyclocross racing and in the collegiate road cycling national championships with the University of Washington cycling team. He is still a sports enthusiast and enjoys snowboarding, wakeboarding, mountain biking, cycling, rock climbing, and crossfit workouts.Dr. Nathe serves as a team physician for the Bellevue High School Football team, Mt. Si High School Football team, and the US Ski and Snowboard Association. He finds great satisfaction in helping athletes of all types return to action.Dr. Nathe is a proud, born-and-raised Washingtonian, growing up in Yakima. He met his wife Sharon at UW School of Medicine and together they have three children. Tyler and his family are thrilled to be back in Washington State near family and friends.
