Dr. Mims earned his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia and completed his residency in general surgery at Emory University affiliated hospitals, where he later acted as Chief Resident in surgery. He received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia in biochemistry and is board certified in general surgery. Dr. Mims has previously worked as a clinical instructor of surgery at Emory University, and was also an associate examiner for The American Board of Surgery. He is a member of many societies including the American Medical Association, the American Hernia Society and the Society of American Gastrointestinal Endoscopic Surgeons.
