Overview
Dr. Gruber sees patients Monday thru Friday in Building D, Level 4. Dr. Daniel Gruber earned a Bachelor of Science at the University of California, Irvine, and was commissioned into the Air Force. After serving as an officer in an aircraft maintenance squadron at Offutt AFB, NE and simultaneously earning a Masters of Science degree he completed his medical degree at Creighton University in Omaha, Nebraska. He then finished OB/GYN residency at David Grant Medical Center at Travis AFB in Northern California. Dr. Gruber then was a general OB/GYN in Birburg, Germany and at Joint Base Andrews, MD. His next accomplishment was completing a fellowship in Female Pelvic Reconstructive Pelvic Surgery (Urogynecology) at Walter Reed National Military Medical Center. He stayed there for the next 9 years serving in multiple roles, including Division Director for Urogynecology, Assistant Department Chief for OB/GYN, Fellowship Director, creating numerous surgical videos and publications. All while having the highest clinic and surgical volume in the Urogynecology Division. After serving 22 years active duty, he retired as a Colonel. Dr. Gruber is a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, and serves in several roles for the American Urogynecologic Society and Society of Gynecologic Surgeons. He is also an Associate Professor at the Uniformed Services University and an Assistant Professor for Johns Hopkins Medicine. Dr. Borahay is the Director of Minimally Invasive Gynecologic Surgery at Johns Hopkins Bayview Medical Center. He specializes in robotic and laparoscopic surgeries for complex conditions, including uterine fibroids and advanced endometriosis. Dr. Borahay performs single-site gynecologic surgery and same-day hysterectomy. Dr. Borahay's book Fibroids and Reproduction presents recent updates on fibroid treatment for clinicians. Dr. Borahay is a referral expert. He has received the Center of Excellence in Minimally Invasive Gynecology designation. Notably, Dr. Borahay received the Excellence in Clinical Teaching Award from the John P. McGovern Academy of Oslerian Medicine. Dr. Borahay is the Principal Investigator of a multi-institutional NIH-funded study of uterine fibroid that includes a clinical trial. Dr. James Segars is director of the Division of Reproductive Science and Women’s Health Research and a professor in the Johns Hopkins Department of Gynecology and Obstetrics. He leads the Howard W. and Georgeanna Seegar Jones Laboratory of Reproductive Sciences and Women's Health Research, where he and his team focus on endometriosis, uterine fibroids, and reproductive and ovarian disorders. Dr. Segars received his undergraduate degree from Duke University and earned his M.D. from Duke University School of Medicine. He completed his residency in obstetrics and gynecology and a clinical fellowship in reproductive endocrinology at Vanderbilt University. Dr. Segars performed a postdoctoral fellowship at the Laboratory of Molecular Growth Regulation at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development. He joined the Johns Hopkins faculty in 2015. Before coming to Johns Hopkins, Dr. Segars was head of the Unit on Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility at the National Institute of Child Health and Human Development and a professor in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences. Dr. Segars has published more than 160 peer-reviewed research articles and serves on the editorial boards of Reproductive Sciences, Molecular Human Reproduction, Seminars in Reproductive Medicine, and Fertility and Sterility.
