Overview
Dr. Anthony K. Hanson earned his medical degree and completed an internship at the University of Ghana Premier Medical School, which is now known as the School of Medicine and Dentistry of the University of Ghana, in Accra. He then moved to New York to complete a second internship and a residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent’s Medical Center, which is now called Richmond University Medical Center, on Staten Island. During his residency, he served as chief medical resident from 1992 to 1993. Dr. Hanson finished additional training through a fellowship in the field of nephrology at The Mount Sinai Hospital in New York City. Board certified in nephrology, Dr. Hanson cares for patients ages 18 years and older. He specializes in treating diabetes (diabetes mellitus, type 1 diabetes, type 2 diabetes), hypertension (high blood pressure, HBP) and kidney diseases (renal diseases). In addition, Dr. Hanson manages dialysis treatments for his patients. Dr. Hanson’s patients comment on his caring approach and his genuine concern for their health concerns. In addition, patients needing dialysis treatment can access treatment at all three of Dr. Hanson’s office locations. Throughout his career, Dr. Hanson has published multiple works, including two peer-reviewed articles in the Journal of Coronary Artery Disease and Free Radical Biology and Medicine. He is a member of the American College of Physicians (ACP), American Medical Association (AMA), American Society of Nephrologists (ASN) and the Ghana Medical Association (GMA). In Dr. Hanson’s free time, he enjoys being at home in Kingwood with his wife and four children.
