Dr. Ashan Manohar

Dr. Manohar earned his medical degree from the University of Natal Medical School in South Africa in 1987. He completed an internal medicine residency at St. John’s Episcopal Hospital in New York in 1996, and a gastroenterology fellowship at the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn in 1999. Dr. Manohar is board-certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine with subspecialty certification in gastroenterology. He is a fellow of the American College of Physicians, the American College of Gastroenterology and the American Gastroenterology Association. With two decades of experience as a gastroenterologist, Dr. Manohar enjoys clinically diagnosing and managing a variety of gastrointestinal diseases, as well as providing endoscopic care. His areas of special interest include inflammatory bowel disease (Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis) and colon cancer prevention. Patients can count on Dr. Manohar to be respectful and diligent in their care. While following national medical guidelines, he also regards each of his patients as unique and deserving of individualized treatment. Humbled by the trust placed in him by patients and their families, Dr. Manohar is dedicated to advocating for their health care. Originally from South Africa, Dr. Manohar practiced in Connecticut for 18 years before moving to Virginia Beach and then to the Eastern Shore. He and his family had already been longtime visitors to the Shore, struck by the area’s pristine beauty and welcoming local residents. Dr. Manohar’s great passions are hiking and inshore coastal fishing. He and his wife, Reshma, have three children.
