She received her MD from the University of Kansas School of Medicine and completed her residency in physical medicine and rehabilitation at New York-Presbyterian – Columbia and Cornell. She then went on to complete a sports medicine fellowship at Montefiore Medical Center.Dr. Townsend has a first-hand understanding of the importance for athletes, including performing artists, to be functioning physically at the highest level possible. When injuries do happen, she addresses them with a holistic approach. She believes in an integrated, multi-disciplinary, individualized plan of care for every patient.
