Dr. Edward Diao is a board-certified orthopedic surgeon serving patients in San Francisco, California. He is currently welcoming new patients at Edward Diao, MD.Dr. Diao is a first-generation American who was born and raised in New York City, where he attended the Bronx High School of Science. After graduating from high school, Dr. Diao studied at Harvard University on a scholarship, graduating Magna Cum Laude, with the Highest Departmental Honors in Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.Dr. Diao received his MD degree from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons. Upon graduation, he was singled out by the New York Orthopaedic Hospital for Outstanding Achievement in Orthopaedic Surgery.Dr. Diao completed his residency at Massachusetts General Hospital under the Harvard Combined Orthopaedic Program. During this program, he received the Resident Teacher of the Year award. He also served as chief resident, and he received a Cave Fellowship for research. Dr. Diao completed his fellowship at Roosevelt Hospital Hand Surgery Service in New York City. During his fellowship, he studied hand and upper extremity surgery under William Littler, Richard Eaton, and Steve Glickel.For more than 20 years, Dr. Diao has been at the forefront of hand and upper extremity surgery. He has trained surgeons from all over the world in intricate surgical techniques and research.
