For Dr. Fabio Orozco, orthopaedic surgery is about empowering people to do all the things they want to do. “I see patients unable to walk before surgery walking without a cane or walker, dancing at their grandkids’ wedding or back on the golf course, just weeks after surgery,” he says. An internationally recognized hip and knee surgeon with over 15 years’ experience, he is board certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery. He performs over 1,000 knee and hip replacements each year, the majority using advanced robotic technology. As Division Director of Orthopaedics at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center, he has contributed to the design and implementation of the musculoskeletal joint unit processes and rapid recovery protocols through the years. Most recently, he participated in developing and implementing AtlantiCare’s newest outpatient surgery center, located in Egg Harbor Township. He has been a pioneer in research and in the development and advancement of same-day joint replacement surgery at New Jersey’s southern shore. “I was inspired by my mentor, my friend, the late Dr. Richard H. Rothman. My practice follows his tradition, always in search of the best approach and outcomes for all my patients, as if they were family,” he says. Dr. Orozco’s post-graduate training included his residency and a research fellowship in orthopaedic surgery at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital, Philadelphia; an adult reconstruction fellowship at the Rothman Institute, Philadelphia; and the Insall Traveling Fellowship. He lectures around the globe and participates in many international meetings. He is an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, the Association of American Hip and Knee Surgeons and other professional associations. He has been recognized as one of the Delaware Valley’s Most Influential Latinos and a Philadelphia/New Jersey Top Doc for multiple years. He is fluent in Spanish.
