
Overview
Dr. Ghazala Hayat provides evaluation and treatment of patients with neuromuscular disorders, particularly amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS), peripheral neuropathies, painful sensory neuropathies, myopathies, neuromuscular junction disorders and demyelinating disorders. She also specializes in clinical neurophysiology, nerve conduction studies, electromyography, electroencephalograms, and spasticity and headaches. She has many research interests, including NeuRx Diaphragm Pacing System® (DPS) in patients with ALS, and comparison of TCAs and SSRIs in depression in ALS patients. Dr. Hayat is a professor of Neuromuscular Diseases in the Department of Neurology at Saint Louis University School of Medicine. She is a member of the American Association of Neuromuscular Disorders and Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and the American Clinical Neurophysiology Society. Dr. Hayat is an active advocate for interfaith relationships. She serves on boards for the Pakistani American Association of St. Louis, and American Voices. She is a member of the Islamic Foundation of Greater St. Louis.
