Dr. James Anaissie

Dr. James Anaissie treats a wide range of Urologic conditions in both men and women. These include problems urinating and/or holding urine, urinary tract infections (UTIs), kidney and bladder stones, low testosterone, and all types of sexual dysfunction. He also treats malignant diseases, such as cancer of the kidneys, prostate, bladder, and testicles. While he is happy to treat the entire spectrum of general Urology, his primary interest is in sexual medicine, an area in which he has conducted ample research and published. He speaks English, Spanish and Arabic. Dr. Anaissie earned his undergraduate degree in Biomedical Engineering at Duke University in Durham, North Carolina, and his medical degree in New Orleans at Tulane University School of Medicine, where he was a DeBakey Scholar. He completed his residency in Urology at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Focusing his practice on cutting-edge technology, Dr. Anaissie utilizes robotic surgery and minimally invasive approaches in his treatment plans. His approach to patient care is based on two core principles: education and teamwork. He starts by making sure that a patient fully understands their condition and then partners with them to achieve a shared goal. He wants his patients to see him as someone who is serious about their medical conditions, but who can also be fun and personable. He knows that many people are struggling through urologic conditions and wants his office to be a safe space where patients feel comfortable and excited about their progress. Dr. Anaissie volunteers as a mentor with Big Brothers-Big Sisters and has done medical volunteer work in the Philippines, Peru, Argentina, and Lebanon.
