Dr. Jason Nowak

Dr. Jason Nowak is a board-certified foot and ankle surgeon with extensive experience in complex foot and ankle reconstruction, sports injuries, trauma, and fracture care, and a nationally recognized focus on total ankle replacement.He is the founder of the Shasta Ortho Foot & Ankle Institute and the founding director of the Northern California Reconstructive Foot & Ankle Fellowship Program, where he trained numerous fellows in advanced foot and ankle surgery. Over more than a decade in a large, high-volume orthopedic group in Northern California, Dr. Nowak developed a practice centered on complex ankle and rearfoot pathology, with particular emphasis on primary and revision total ankle replacement.Dr. Nowak has a special interest in total ankle replacement and revision total ankle surgery and has performed a high volume of these procedures throughout his career. His experience spans primary replacements, complex revisions, salvage reconstruction, and challenging deformity correction. He has also been intimately involved in the design and development of new total ankle replacement implants, contributing clinical insight to advance implant technology and surgical technique.A well-published author, Dr. Nowak has contributed numerous articles to peer-reviewed medical journals on total ankle replacement and other reconstructive foot and ankle procedures. He has authored multiple textbook chapters, including work on total talus replacement and advanced reconstructive surgery of the foot and ankle. He is a national lecturer and educator, regularly teaching surgeons across the country on total ankle replacement, ankle and rearfoot reconstruction, and complex surgical decision-making.While recognized for his expertise in total ankle replacement, Dr.. Nowak provides comprehensive foot and ankle care, including sports injuries, trauma, fractures, deformity correction, arthritis management, and complex reconstructive surgery.After practicing in Northern California for the past 12 years, Dr. Nowak relocated to his home state of Wisconsin, where he was born and raised, to be closer to family and raise his children.
