John Aruny, MD, is an interventional radiologist with more than 25 years of clinical and academic experience, specializing in dialysis access and advanced vascular care. Throughout his career, he has been recognized for both his leadership in the field and his commitment to improving outcomes for patients requiring complex interventional procedures. Dr. Aruny spent nearly two decades at Yale University School of Medicine, where he served as co-director of vascular and interventional radiology and practiced as a diagnostic, vascular, and interventional radiologist from 1999 to 2018. During his tenure at Yale, he played a vital role in advancing interventional techniques, training residents and fellows, and conducting research to expand treatment options in vascular medicine. He also served as principal investigator for the FLEX Arteriovenous Access Registry, underscoring his contributions to clinical innovation. He completed his fellowship in cardiovascular and interventional radiology at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School, his residency in diagnostic radiology at New York Medical College, and his internship in internal medicine at Booth Memorial Medical Center/New York University. A past president of the Vascular Access Society of the Americas (VASA), Dr. Aruny has been honored with national awards, including recognition in America's Top Doctors and the inaugural Shari Ullman Gold Medal Lecturer Award from the Association of Vascular and Interventional Radiographers.
