Overview
Dr. John Hanna is a fellowship-trained vascular neurologist and medical director of Atlantic Health System’s Comprehensive Stroke Center at Overlook Medical Center in Summit. Board-certified in neurology and vascular neurology, Dr. Hanna specializes in vascular abnormalities, particularly those in stroke patients. His years of experience in acute stroke management translate to high-level skill in successful treatment of stroke in both acute inpatient and outpatient settings. Dr. Hanna works closely with a skilled neurology team to manage even the most complex central nervous system vascular disorders. Dr. Hanna received much of his medical training at Montefiore Medical Center in New York. Having performed his fellowship there at one of the busiest emergency departments in the country, Dr. Hanna is an expert at comprehensive neurological cases and assembling the right neuro care team to deliver the best possible outcome. He is also knowledgeable in CD/TCD, enabling him to properly review non-invasive ultrasound to measure blood flow. During his residency, Dr. Hanna served as chief resident, supervising educating medical students. He received his medical degree from SUNY Downstate Medical Center’s College of Medicine after graduating magna cum laude from SUNY, Brooklyn College as part of the BA/MD program with a bachelor of science degree in biology and a minor in psychology. Dr. Hanna maintains membership in the American Academy of Neurology and has a long list of research and published works that he has presented at national conferences. Dr. Hanna is also fluent in Arabic, has a working knowledge of Spanish, and is committed to community services with roles as a medical volunteer and an educator in youth outreach programs. Dr. Hanna is part of the Atlantic Medical Group and a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.

He attained his MD from Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons and completed Neurology residency at the Neurological Institute of New York, at NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center. Dr. Lassman completed his fellowship in Neuro-Oncology at Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center, where he joined the faculty and served as fellowship director, until his return to NewYork-Presbyterian/Columbia University Irving Medical Center.
