Dr. John Quinn

After receiving a magna cum laude undergraduate degree at Rutgers University in New Brunswick, N.J., Dr. John Quinn earned his medical degree at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, where he was inducted into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. He completed his neurosurgery residency at Rutgers University Hospital and Robert Wood Johnson Medical Center, where he was chief resident. During his residency, he completed a concurrent fellowship in spine and scoliosis surgery at the Hospital for Special Surgery and Weill-Cornell Graduate School of Medical Sciences in New York City, followed by an additional fellowship in spine deformity surgery at the University of Virginia Medical School in Charlottesville. Board certified in neurosurgery, Dr. Quinn focuses on treating complex spinal conditions. He specializes in spine surgery, particularly complex spine scoliosis, revision surgery and degenerative spine surgery, and his areas of expertise include complex spinal reconstruction procedures for adult and pediatric scoliosis, kyphosis, post-surgical flat back syndrome and tumors of the spine and vertebral column. He sees patients of all ages. His approach to care involves creating patient-specific treatment plans that recognize varying impacts of conditions on different people, pinpoint the source of symptoms and incorporate individual patient’s goals and expectations. When surgery is warranted, Dr. Quinn prepares patients for the procedure with careful steps to optimize their health, using physical therapy (such as aquatic strengthening) and other methodologies. The goal is to reduce risk and set expectations for post-surgical function and quality of life. He utilizes a team approach with pain management specialists, endocrinologists, physiatrists, neurologists and primary care physicians.
