Dr. McGough pioneered the “BrachyVAC” treatment for superficial malignancies, and performs both clinical and research work developing this procedure. Dr. McGough's primary research interest is osseointegration prostheses for amputees, and he performed the first upper extremity osseointegration procedure in the United States. He serves as an extramural committee member for the Department of Defense's Osseointegration Program, and is actively pursuing the development of this technology for the American population. He has been named one of Pittsburgh's “Top Docs” by Best Doctor's Inc. in Pittsburgh Magazine, a UPMC “ACE,” and has been the recipient of the University of Pittsburgh Orthopaedic Residency's “Golden Apple” award in recognition of his teaching.
