"Joonseok ""Joon"" Kim, MD, MSPH, is fellowship-trained and board-certified in cardiovascular disease, electrophysiology, and echocardiography. With extensive expertise in electrophysiology, Dr. Kim specializes in catheter ablation of complex arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation, supraventricular tachycardia, and ventricular tachycardia. He has expertise in performing ablation with minimal or no fluoroscopy use to reduce patient exposure to radiation. He is also skilled in the implantation of a wide range of cardiac devices, such as cardiac pacemakers and defibrillators. Dr. Kim believes in a patient-centered approach, emphasizing clear communication and shared decision-making. He strives to set goals collaboratively with his patients, ensuring they understand their diagnosis and treatment plans, ultimately aiming for the best patient outcomes and quality care. Dr. Kim received his medical education from Chung-Ang University College of Medicine in Seoul, South Korea. He completed his residency in internal medicine at Michigan State University College of Human Medicine and his cardiovascular disease fellowship at University of Cincinnati Medical Center. Following his fellowship, Dr. Kim served as a faculty member in cardiovascular medicine at University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) for five years, where he also earned a Master of Science in public health degree. He has published numerous scientific papers in the field of cardiovascular outcomes research, including papers published in major cardiovascular journals, such as the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC) and Circulation: Cardiovascular Quality and Outcomes. Pursuing his passion for electrophysiology, he completed further training in clinical electrophysiology at University of Washington. Outside of his professional life, Dr. Kim is passionate about tennis and enjoys spending quality time with his family.".
