Native Houstonian Dr. Justin Chronister earned his undergraduate degree in molecular biology and mechanical engineering from The University of Texas at Austin and his medical degree at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth). He completed a residency in orthopedic surgery at The University of Texas Medical Branch at Galveston and a fellowship in sports medicine at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Ala. Board certified in orthopedic surgery, Dr. Chronister has been in practice since 2008 and treats all ages and levels of athletes. He specializes in all types of sports-related injuries and arthritic conditions of the knee, shoulder, hip and elbow. He focuses on joint and cartilage preservation, using the most up-to-date medical technology and the least invasive tissue-sparing procedures possible. He performs minimally invasive and arthroscopic procedures on the shoulder, elbow, knee and hip; cartilage repair and preservation; ACL and ligament reconstruction; Tommy John procedures; rotator cuff repair; knee, hip, shoulder and partial knee replacement; computer-navigated knee and hip replacement; anterior approach to hip replacement; and sports hernia repair. He also treats shoulder instability, general orthopedic trauma and conditions of the hand and wrist. Dr. Chronister’s customized approach to orthopedic care focuses on thoroughly educating his patients on management options and providing close attention throughout the recovery process. He works to tailor a treatment plan for each patient's specific needs and goals. Dr. Eric Klineberg received his undergraduate degree from Rice University and then a master’s degree in zoology and neural networks at the University of Maryland, before earning his medical degree from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. He completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Washington Medical System in Seattle then a combined neurosurgery and orthopedic surgical spine fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Ohio. Dr. Klineberg is board certified in orthopedic surgery. His primary clinical interests include spinal degeneration, deformity, tumor and fracture; adult and pediatric spinal deformity surgery; and cervical compression and deformity. Dr. Klineberg is committed to excellence in surgical care with an emphasis on communication, compassion and empathy. He strives to treat each patient as he would like himself or a family member to be treated. A professor and vice chair in the Department of Orthopedic Surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, Dr. Klineberg serves as Chief of Orthopedic Spine Surgery and holds the Milton “Chip” Routt Endowed Chair of Spinal Surgery. His research, teaching and clinical activity have earned Dr. Klineberg an international reputation in spinal deformity surgery. Author of over then 300 publications and book chapters, he also edited Adult Lumbar Scoliosis, A Clinical Guide to Diagnosis and Management and is a principal or co-principal investigator for more than a half-dozen clinical studies. His major research interests are enhancement of spinal fusion with stem cells and proteins and spinal deformity and outcomes. He serves on the board of directors of the Scoliosis Research Society and on the executive committee of the International Spine Study Group. He is also the North American Chair of AO Spine, a global academic community that promotes excellence in education, research, patient care and outcomes.
