Dr. Lauren Yancey became interested in ocular health in middle school when she didn't understand why her brother was prescribed a contact lens for only one eye. She continued to pursue this passion in high school by working as an optometric technician during summers. She shadowed different medical professionals throughout college to expand her knowledge in other disciplines, including neurosurgery, cardiology, and orthopedics.Dr. Yancey earned her undergraduate degree in Interdisciplinary Sciences with minors in biology, chemistry, and physics at Virginia Commonwealth University. She completed her optometric education at Pennsylvania College of Optometry where she earned her doctorate degree. She was selected to tutor fellow students in many subjects including her favorite courses, neuro-ophthalmic disease and pharmacology. While completing her doctorate, she also attended Saint Joseph's University where she received her Master of Business Administration.Dr. Yancey completed specialized training in neuro-ophthalmic disease, ocular disease, specialty contact lenses, and ocular care in a hospital setting. She has special interests in neuro-ophthalmic disease, dry eye disease, the diagnosis and treatment of glaucoma, and ocular emergencies.
