Dr. Matt Koepplinger earned his undergraduate degree from The Ohio State University and his medical degree at Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine in Athens, Ohio. He completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at St. Vincent Mercy Medical Center in Toledo, Ohio, and a fellowship in hand and upper extremity surgery at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston. Dr. Koepplinger, who is board certified in orthopedic surgery, has been in practice since 2003 specializing in hand and upper extremity surgery. He treats trauma and fractures; ligament, nerve and tendon injuries; arthritis of the shoulder, wrist, elbow and hand; carpal tunnel syndrome; cubital tunnel syndrome; trigger finger; tennis elbow; and other sports injuries of the upper extremities. He is a member of the American Osteopathic Association, American Osteopathic Academy of Orthopedics and American Society for Surgery of the Hand. He is also an assistant professor of orthopedic surgery at McGovern Medical School at The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston (UTHealth).

His research, teaching and clinical activity have earned Dr. Klineberg an international reputation in spinal deformity surgery. Author of over then 300 publications and book chapters, he also edited Adult Lumbar Scoliosis, A Clinical Guide to Diagnosis and Management and is a principal or co-principal investigator for more than a half-dozen clinical studies. His major research interests are enhancement of spinal fusion with stem cells and proteins and spinal deformity and outcomes. He serves on the board of directors of the Scoliosis Research Society and on the executive committee of the International Spine Study Group. He is also the North American Chair of AO Spine, a global academic community that promotes excellence in education, research, patient care and outcomes.
