Overview
Mohummed Khani, MD completed his medical degree at the University of Aleppo – Faculty of Medicine in Syria. He went on to complete his general surgery residency at North Shore LIJ Health System in Staten Island, New York and his fellowship in colon and rectal surgery at St. Vincent Health System in Erie, Pennsylvania as well as Cleveland Clinic Foundation in Cleveland, Ohio. Dr. Khani chose to become a physician and specialize in surgery because he wanted to decrease suffering for all and help his patients. Fluent in English and Arabic, Dr. Khani is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery and board certified in colon and rectal surgery by American Board of Colon and Rectal Surgery. He sees patients for the diagnosis and treatment of rectal pain, anal pain, abdominal pain, diarrhea, constipation, rectal bleeding, hemorrhoids, and more. He also sees patients for both diagnostic and screening colonoscopies. Dr. Khani’s clinical interests include minimally-invasive surgeries and robotic surgery for a variety of conditions including diverticulitis, colon cancer, rectal cancer, and inflammatory bowel diseases such as Crohn’s disease and ulcerative colitis. Dr. Khani builds good relationships with his patients as they compile a detailed medical history and make a strategy for helping the patient feel better again. He wants each of his patients to be pleased with their outcome, and the best part of his job is when he gets to see a patient out of surgery who is happy and feeling great. He truly loves his profession and what he gets to do every day. In his spare time, Dr. Khani enjoys swimming, playing tennis, watching basketball, traveling, and spending time with family.
