Dr. Olga Shabalov

Olga Shabalov, MD, is a cardiologist. She is certified in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology by the American Board of Internal Medicine and in nuclear cardiology by the Certification Board of Nuclear Cardiology. She is a clinical assistant professor of medicine at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine. She received her medical degree from the Latvian Medical Academy and completed her residency and fellowship at UPMC Shadyside, where she also served as the chief medical resident.Dr. Shabalov has practiced at UPMC Shadyside since 2002 and joined the UPMC Heart and Vascular Institute in 2020. Over the years, Dr. Shabalov has served as the vice-chair of the division of cardiology and as the director of the coronary care unit. She has been involved in the teaching of medical students, fellows, and residents and is a fellow of the American College of Cardiology. Dr. Shabalov’s clinical interests include treatment of coronary artery disease, hypertension, preventive cardiology, and women’s health. Dr. Shabalov lives in Pittsburgh’s East End with her husband and French bulldog. Her parents and both of her grown children reside nearby. She is an avid hiker who can frequently be found on the trails of Frick Park. She enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. She is fluent in the Russian language.

Her clinical expertise encompasses Ventricular Fibrillation, Paroxysmal Ventricular Fibrillation, Angina, and Atherosclerosis.

Dr. Shabalov is board certified in American Board Of Internal Medicine , American Board Of Vascular Medicine , and Certification Board Of Nuclear Cardiology. She is actively involved in clinical research, co-authoring 1 peer reviewed article. Dr. Shabalov is currently accepting new patients.
