
Overview
Dr. Peter Walker earned his medical degree at St. Louis University in St. Louis, Missouri. He finished his internship and residency in general surgery at McGovern Medical School at UTHealth Houston, where he also completed an NIH-sponsored T32 Research Fellowship, as well as a fellowship in robotic and minimally invasive surgery. In practice since 2006, Dr. Walker is board certified in surgery and a fellow of both the American College of Surgeons and the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. He treats patients ages 16 and older. Dr. Walker specializes in bariatric surgery, reflux surgery, hernia repair, gallbladder surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, colon surgery, robotic surgery and minimally invasive surgery. His primary clinical interests are surgery of the esophagus and stomach (including surgery for reflux/heartburn, weight loss, achalasia, hiatal hernias, ulcer disease, gastrointestinal stromal tumors and gastric cancer), surgery of solid organs (spleen, adrenal glands, thyroid, parathyroid, pancreas and liver), surgery of the abdominal wall, hernia surgery (including complex abdominal wall reconstruction), colon surgery and colon cancer. He has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Walker utilizes minimally invasive surgery techniques, incorporating up-to-date technology to deliver quality results for his patients. He also emphasizes good communication and patient experience by taking time and care to develop rapport prior to performing complex procedures. He meets personally with patients for their follow-up clinic visits. An assistant professor at McGovern Medical School, he has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters. Dr. Todd David Wilson is an assistant professor of surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston who focuses on advanced surgery of the abdomen and gastrointestinal tract. He graduated from the United States Naval Academy with a Bachelor of Science degree in chemistry and then served in the United States Navy as a Surface Warfare Officer for six years. After three decorated tours of service, he found his home in Houston where he earned his medical degree from The University of Texas Medical School at Houston in 2003. He stayed at the university to complete his surgical residency training in 2008 and then completed advanced training with a fellowship of Minimally Invasive Surgery. Dr. Wilson joined the faculty at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in 2009 where he practices surgery that embraces state of the art techniques to proved patients with optimal surgical results with the least impact on the patient. At the medical school, he serves as the Medical Director of Surgical Training and part of the Elective General Surgery team. He is active academically with membership in several medical societies and has received academic recognition and published or presented articles.
