Overview
Dr. Saad Shammas earned a medical degree from the University of Baghdad College of Medicine. After emigrating to the United States, he completed a clinical clerkship at Jackson Park Hospital in Chicago. After graduating from the College of Medicine and Health Sciences, St. Lucia, he completed a residency in family medicine at the University of Toledo in Ohio. Board certified in family medicine, Dr. Shammas provides primary care for patients ages 13 and older. In practice since 1984, he prescribes preventive medicine as well as treats acute conditions such as infections, colds, flu, asthma, rashes, allergies and sore throats. Additionally, he is experienced at managing chronic conditions such as diabetes, obesity, thyroid, high cholesterol and high blood pressure. He also speaks Arabic. Patients describe him as a thorough, caring and direct physician who wants his patients to live happy, healthy lives. They value the way he explains conditions and treatment plans clearly and takes time to answer their questions.
