After coming to the United States, Dr. Fernandez completed an internal medicine residency and a gastroenterology and hepatology fellowship at New York Medical College Metropolitan Hospital Center, where she was chief resident in her final year. About Dr. Fernandez Dr. Fernandez is board certified in internal medicine and gastroenterology by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Her professional memberships include the American College of Physicians, American Medical Association, American College of Gastroenterology, American Gastroenterological Association and American Society for Gastrointestinal Endoscopy. Her volunteer experience includes work with disabled children and adults, people without medical resources and seniors in nursing homes. Outside of work, Dr. Fernandez enjoys swimming, singing, cooking and volunteering. She is fluent in English and Spanish.
