
Overview
As Chief of the Adult Joint Reconstruction Center of North Shore University Hospital/ Northwell Health, Dr Asnis oversees a very talented group of Fellowship Trained Orthopedic Joint Replacement Surgeons preforming both inpatient and outpatient total knee and total hip replacements. He is Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell.Previously, he served as Chairman of the Department of Orthopedic Surgery of the North Shore LIJ Medical Center, Chairman of the North Shore Physical Therapy Committee; and Presidentof the NSUH Medical Staff Society.Dr. Asnis has published multiple journal articles, a textbook, and has made many presentations and exhibits at both national and international meetings. He has been the recipient of numerous honors, including the national Hip Society s Frank E. Stinchfield Award for orthopedic research. Recently, Dr. Asnis was awarded the Albert Nelson Marquis Lifetime Achievement Award and has been included for many years in Who s Who in Medicine and Healthcare, Best Doctors in America, and New York Magazine s Best Doctors.He has developed such orthopedic devices as the Stryker Howmedica s Asnis GuidedScrew System, the Universal Compression Screw, Biomet s Rx90 Total Hip System, and the Monolock Component of the Vanguard Total Knee System. He continues to do research in hip and knee biomechanics.Dr. Asnis is a diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery andthe National Board of Medical Examiners. He is also a fellow of the AmericanAcademy of Orthopaedic Surgeons and the American College Surgeons.Dr. Asnis earned his medical degree from Washington University School ofMedicine, St. Louis, MO. He did both his orthopedic residency and fellowship atthe Hospital for Special Surgery.
