Terri Young, MD, MBA, is a UW Health Kids pediatric ophthalmologist and adult strabismologist. She is a tenured professor in the Department of Ophthalmology and Visual Sciences at the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine and Public Health, where she serves as the department chair. Dr. Young cares for young patients with ocular (eye) disorders and both children and adults with strabismus (misaligned eyes).Dr. Young provides both medical and surgical treatment for a range of conditions. These can include glaucoma, corneal infections, tear duct disorders, strabismus (eye misalignment) and periocular issues such as tumors or eyelid droop. She also treats adults who have strabismus. Her special clinical expertise is pediatric and adult surgery to correct strabismus.In addition to her clinical and teaching roles, Dr. Young is an ophthalmic geneticist who directs a genetics laboratory program and conducts basic science research to locate gene mutations that cause heritable eye conditions in children.In her free time, Dr. Young enjoys traveling, tennis, art museums and gardening.Establishing a good relationship with patients and their families is key to successful outcomes.
