"Vijay A. Singh, MD, is Northwell Health's regional director of thoracic surgery for eastern Long Island. With more than 10 years of experience, he delivers expert results in the treatment of benign and cancerous disorders of the lung and esophagus with precision and compassion. Dr. Singh was the first in Suffolk County to perform robotic thoracic surgery, a minimally invasive technique that improves surgical precision and reduces recovery time, and among the first on Long Island to perform robotic bronchoscopy. Thanks in part to his efforts, Southside Hospital has been recognized as a Center of Excellence in Robotic Surgery by the Surgical Review Corporation.Collaboration is key to Dr. Singh's approach to treatment. He participates in weekly multidisciplinary meetings, where specialists across many disciplines come together to discuss cases and create treatment plans uniquely tailored to each patient. He works alongside medical oncologists, radiation oncologists and imaging technicians to provide a holistic treatment plan, and always ensures his patients are fully educated on what to expect. My patients know they can always call me if they need something or have a concern.""Dr. Singh completed his residency at Northwell Health in 2012; now, he enjoys sharing his expertise with other medical professionals as an assistant professor at the Donald and Barbara Zucker School of Medicine at Hofstra/Northwell. When he's not teaching, he's fulfilling his own continuous thirst for knowledge by conducting research and reading up on the latest innovations in the field. He's also a member of the American Medical Association and the Society of Thoracic Surgeons and routinely speaks at professional conferences and educational community events.Dr. Singh is helping lead the efforts to bring advanced thoracic surgery to Mather Hospital so that patients can have even more access to state-of-the-art care in their backyard.
