Overview
As I was growing up, the medical profession was always very highly regarded in my family for doing good and helping people. That is what first interested me in becoming a doctor. The field of nephrology appeals to me because I love the challenges and complexities of the specialty. Nephrology is one of the more diverse specialties and I enjoy both the outpatient clinic and hospital aspects of it, as well as seeing dialysis patients and post-transplant patients. Many years ago, before practicing in the United States, I practiced as a nephrologist in India. That experience gave me to the opportunity to see how the specialty was practiced in a resource-poor environment, and it gave me a broad perspective on how the specialty is practiced in different environments. I am married and have two boys. In my free time, I enjoy travel and watching movies - two things the whole family enjoys. I am a member of the American Society of Nephrology (ASN).
