Dr. Adamson also completed a research fellowship at Harrison Department of Surgical Research at the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine in Philadelphia funded by an NIH/NCI National Research Award for surgical oncology research training. This specialized training focused on short bowel syndrome and inflammatory bowel disease. About Dr. Adamson Dr. Adamson spent a large part of his career at the University of North Carolina School of Medicine, where he served as Division Chief of Pediatric Surgery and Surgeon-in-Chief of North Carolina Children’s Hospital. He is board certified in general and pediatric surgery by the American Board of Surgery. Dr. Adamson is a fellow of the American Pediatric Surgery Association, American College of Surgeons and American Academy of Pediatrics, and his professional memberships include the American Pediatric Surgery Association, Lilliputian Surgical Society and Southern Surgical Association. An accomplished researcher, Dr. Adamson has published numerous textbook chapters and in peer-reviewed journals. He frequently serves as a guest lecturer at scientific conferences. Outside of work, he enjoys spending time with family, boating, fishing, hiking and traveling.
