Philosophy of care | I believe in treating you as a whole patient and not simply focusing on your immediate problem. Pain management is about using all treatment modalities to provide a comprehensive, safe and effective approach to reducing your discomfort. | Why I entered medicine | I chose to become a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner (CRNP) because of my father and my childhood family doctor. My father was a volunteer EMT and I spent countless hours with him at the ambulance company. I truly admired his compassion and willingness to volunteer his time to helping others in need. I was always interested in hearing what emergencies he responded to and what treatments he used to help those patients. My other reason for pursuing medicine was watching the joy and personal fulfillment my family doctor got from taking care of patients of all ages. He made me feel, during a sick visit or a routine check-up, that I was his most-important patient. His interest in not only my health, but also my personal life, was genuine. | Community involvement | I volunteer my time as a youth basketball coach for my township. | Personal interests | I truly enjoy spending time with my family. My children are involved in sports and I get great joy watching them play. Mr. Philips is highly rated in 2 conditions, according to our data. His top areas of expertise are Sacroiliac Joint Disease and Opioid Induced Constipation.

Philosophy of care | I like to treat every patient as I would want my family member treated. It is important to take the time to listen and really get to know each patient. My goal is to provide individualized, compassionate care to each patient. | Why I entered medicine | I entered the health care field to help others, starting in the emergency department as a nurse. Over time autoimmune diseases piqued my interest, and I completed a nurse practitioner program to further assist that patient population. Philosophy of care | As I build upon my own philosophy of practice, I find I highly value three components of advanced nursing: safety, empathy and autonomy. The top priority of any provider is ensuring the safety of you, me and others. This includes assessing your ability to maintain personal safety, evaluating the best evidenced-based information to ensure safe treatment, creating a safe therapeutic environment and recognizing available resources. Empathy is essential when working in a caring profession. It is important for me to acknowledge your emotional state as well as your families’ and reflect on individual needs and circumstances. I remain open-minded and non-judgmental as patients come for help during especially vulnerable times. Lastly, I greatly value your autonomy as a guiding force in your treatment and recovery. Mental health treatment is highly individualized because social and psychological variables are often central to your plan of care. It is also pertinent that you believe in your path to wellness and form a collaboration with your treatment team, and the only way to do that is if you have the autonomy to identify your goals and are given the resources and education to make well-informed decisions. | Why I entered medicine | I have always been interested in behavioral health and want to help others through the sometimes-challenging journey to their own mental wellness. | Community involvement | I worked with the Sixth Street Shelter in Allentown, assisting with their food pantry. I also volunteered with Good Shepherd Rehabilitation Hospital in the occupational therapy department. | Personal interests | In my free time I enjoy reading, writing and spending time with my family and pets. Her top area of expertise is Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD).

Philosophy of care | I care about my patients’ well-being and believe in a holistic approach to medicine. The best way to have patients achieve their health goals is by listening to them and guiding them through the decision-making process. I empower patients to make informed decisions and succeed in achieving their goals. I provide them with compassionate, comprehensive primary care – with an emphasis on preventive care. | Why I entered medicine | I entered medicine to help others feel better and maintain good health throughout their lives. | Community involvement | I volunteer for Meals on Wheels and animal shelters. | Personal interests | I enjoy spending time with my family. I also like reading, exercising and being outdoors. Her top areas of expertise are ALK-Positive Non-Small Cell Lung Cancer and Smoldering Multiple Myeloma.

Philosophy of care | I fully believe in a passion for better medicine. I am here to serve the patient as they are the focus of each visit. I try to be flexible and accommodating with patients who are often traveling from afar. As a nurse practitioner, I am lucky to have an abundance of time with my patients which allows for ample education and counseling opportunities at each visit. I love what I do, and I think it shows with patients and their families. | Why I entered medicine | From a young age I knew that a career in medicine was for me. I have always worked in pediatrics and I can honestly say that I cannot imagine myself in any other career. Endocrinology - and especially pediatric diabetes - has always been a big part of my life, as I myself was diagnosed with Type I diabetes as a child. As a new nurse, my favorite patients were those with diabetes because I got a lot of satisfaction out of caring for them. I felt that I was able to give them advice from personal experience, and they seemed to really benefit from that. So as soon as the opportunity presented itself I took a job in pediatric endocrinology and haven't looked back since. I like to think that I take better care of my own diabetes because of the children and families that I take care of each day in the office. | Community involvement | I have been a member of several national organizations including the National Association of Pediatric Nurse Practitioners (NAPNAP), American Association of Diabetes Educators (AADE) and the Pediatric Endocrine Nursing Society (PENS). I have served as an expert consultant for Cedar Crest College nursing department's type 1 diabetes advocacy grant program and also have provided continuing education modules for school nurses within multiple Lehigh Valley area school districts. Her top area of expertise is Vitamin D Deficiency.

When should I see a Nurse Practitioner near Emmaus, PA?

There are various reasons why you may want to see a specialist, such as:

    • Your primary care provider recommends it.
    • Your condition requires expert knowledge and specialized care.
    • Your symptoms persist or worsen despite treatment.
    • You need specialized testing or procedures.
    • You want a second opinion.

What should I consider when choosing a Nurse Practitioner near Emmaus, PA?

It’s important to see a provider with expertise in your specific condition. Each provider profile in MediFind’s doctor database includes information on which conditions they treat, years of experience, research contributions, languages spoken, insurance plans accepted, and more.

How does MediFind rank Nurse Practitioners near Emmaus, PA?

MediFind’s rankings are based on a variety of data sources, such as the number of articles a doctor has published in medical journals, participation in clinical trials and industry conferences, as well as the number of patients that provider sees for a given condition. Note that MediFind’s provider database is not based on user reviews, and providers do not pay to be included in the database.

What types of insurance are accepted by Nurse Practitioners near Emmaus, PA?

Most profiles in MediFind’s doctor database include a list of insurance plans accepted by that provider. However, it’s a good idea to contact the provider’s office to make sure they still accept your insurance, then doublecheck by contacting your insurance plan to confirm they’re in network.

How can I book an appointment online with a Nurse Practitioner in Emmaus?

MediFind offers direct scheduling for certain providers using the “Request Appointment” button on that provider’s profile. If the schedule option is not available for a provider, tap the red “Show Phone Number” button on their profile to get their contact information. If you prefer to find providers who offer online scheduling, select “Schedules online” under the “Availability” category of the filter feature on the left side of the Nurse Practitioner search results page.

Why is it important to get a second opinion from a different Nurse Practitioner?

Second opinions are an opportunity to confirm a diagnosis and its root cause, learn about alternative treatment options, or simply gain peace of mind. Many people, especially those with serious diagnoses, get second opinions so they can understand all their options and make informed decisions, so don’t hesitate to get one if you have any doubts or need more information or clarification regarding your care. Note that some insurance plans require second opinions, while others don’t cover second opinions, so be sure to confirm with your insurance provider first.

How can I prepare for my appointment with a Nurse Practitioner near Emmaus, PA?

Prepare for your appointment by gathering the following items:

    • Copies of medical records (dating back at least one year)
    • Your medical history, including illnesses, medical conditions, surgeries, and other doctors you see
    • Family history of disease
    • List of current prescription drugs, over-the-counter medicines, vitamins, and herbal remedies or supplements including names and doses
    • Allergies to medications, food, latex, insects, etc.
    • List of questions and concerns
    • Your insurance card

You might also contact the provider’s office to see if they offer transportation or childcare services or if you’re allowed to bring a loved one for support or to take notes during your visit.

What questions should I ask my Nurse Practitioner?

    Here are some sample questions:

    • Can you explain in simple terms what this condition is and how it’s treated?
    • What symptoms or side effects should I watch for?
    • What tests will be involved, and when can I expect results?
    • Are there other specialists I need to see?
    • What’s the best way to reach you if I have follow-up questions?

How can I learn about the latest clinical trials and research advances my Nurse Practitioner may know about?

MediFind’s Clinical Trials tool asks you a series of questions to help you narrow down your search by health condition, age, gender, location, how far you’re willing to travel, and more. Each question you answer filters down the number of trials until you find the ones that are most relevant to you.

MediFind’s Latest Advances tool features summaries of recent articles published in medical journals. We use cutting-edge technology to scour medical publication databases for the latest research advancements on any given condition, then we simplify this information in a way that’s useful and easy to understand.

Can I filter my search to show male or female Nurse Practitioners near Emmaus, PA?

Look for the filter feature on the left side of the Nurse Practitioner search results page. Select “Female” or “Male” under the “Gender” category to search for female or male providers exclusively. If the “Any” option is selected, it will pull results for both male and female providers.

Can I filter my search to find a Nurse Practitioner that offers video calls?

Look for the filter feature on the left-side of the Nurse Practitioner search results page. Select “Offers telehealth visits” under the Availability category to search for providers who offer virtual appointments (video calls).
