I chose to pursue a career in medicine because I wanted to positively make an impact on our healthcare system. I wanted to focus on preventative care, primarily women's health through the lifespan. I enjoy getting to know my patients not only as their healthcare provider but learning about them as an individual and learning about their families and hobbies/likes. What I do when I'm not seeing patients:In my free time I enjoy spending time with my husband Doug, my daughters Reese, age 6 and Rhenn age 3. We soon will be welcoming a baby boy as well into our family. I am an avid runner and enjoy most forms of exercise. I participate in triathlon events and road races. Reading a good book is one way I like to decompress after a long day.

I enjoy helping others and always knew I wanted to work in health care. I worked as a Certified Nurses Aide in high school. While in college I worked toward becoming a Registered Nurse (R.N.). I then worked nine years as a R.N. in both the Emergency Room as well as the Operating Room. I also worked as a R.N. case manager for a hospice company while finishing my graduate degree to become a Certified Registered Nurse Practitioner. I briefly worked for an orthopedic office right out of school, however I missed taking care of the patient as a whole. I felt that Family Medicine was a better fit for me as I can take care of individuals across their lifespan.What I want my patients to know about me:I was born and raised in the Waynesboro area and was actually a patient in the same office for many years. I enjoy getting to know my patients. I focus on disease prevention through education on how they can improve their health as well as educating them on any existing health problems and helping them to make better choices so they can continue to live a fulfilling life. I listen to my patients about their health concerns and work with them to come up with an individualized plan of care.What I do when I'm not seeing patients:I am a busy mom of three children and enjoy spending any free time I have with my husband and children. I enjoy traveling and being outside. I also love making crafts and crocheting.

I am interested in every aspect of health, especially what role nutrition plays in our body and the development of disease.What I do when I'm not seeing patients:I spend every day with my family and friends, and we are not only highly active in sports, but also love to go hiking on a regular basis with our dogs.
