Dr. John P. Reilly

John P. Reilly, M.D., is a board certified, fellowship-trained orthopedics and trauma specialist. He is also a clinical assistant professor of orthopedic surgery and rehabilitation at SUNY Downstate Medical Center College of Medicine in Brooklyn, NY, and a consultant for a number of organizations, including the Clove Lakes Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Eger Health Care Center, and Golden Gate Rehabilitation Center. He was recognized by Castle Connolly for his excellence in Orthopaedic Surgery and awarded Regional Top Doctor 1999-2021 and Top Doctor NY Metro Area 1999-2021.

As a Brooklyn native, Dr. Reilly attended Polytechnic Institute of New York in Brooklyn, NY where he lettered for three years in baseball and basketball. After graduation, Dr. Reilly remained in his hometown to earn his medical degree from the SUNY Downstate Medical Center. He completed his residency in Orthopaedic Surgery at Lenox Hill Hospital in New York where he trained under notable orthopaedic surgeons, Dr. W. Norman Scott and Dr. James Nicholas. Dr. Reilly obtained sub-specialty training in Orthopaedic Traumatology at the Maryland Institute for Emergency Medical Services Systems (MIEMSS) in Baltimore, MD.

As Chair of orthopedics at Staten Island University Hospital, Dr. Reilly s primary objective is advocating for a team approach to orthopedic surgery and its associated subspecialties, from evaluation to treatment. Dr. Reilly has lectured, presented, and published on a variety of orthopedic topics, including trends in spine surgery, management of orthopedic trauma, total joint arthroplasty, and injection therapy. In conjunction with his tenure at Healthcare Associates in Medicine, a division of Orlin & Cohen Medical Specialists Group, Dr. Reilly served as a delegate for the NYS Society of Orthopedic Surgeons and was formerly appointed as President of the Medical and Dental staff at Staten Island University Hospital. Additionally, he served as team physician for the Staten Island Yankees minor league team, the Class A Short Season affiliate of the New York Yankees, for 20 years. Presently, Dr. Reilly continues to serve as an honorary surgeon for the NYPD and as team physician for local high schools and universities.
