I strive to offer patients at Duke Health the latest advancements and treatment options in the treatment of gastrointestinal and liver disease. It is a privilege to partner with patients and their families in developing care plans that meet the needs and goals of each person. It is my passion to stand next to each of my patients and help them make important decisions about their own health. I remain involved in clinical research and am interested in the role of nutritional wellness in patients with liver disease and those awaiting transplant. When not working, my wife and I are busy with our two daughters. My love for them reminds me of the importance of care for others. I have a passion for taking care of patients with liver disease. Being a hepatologist allows me to form long term relationships and work together with patients and families to make a diagnosis and a treatment plan. I am particularly interested in liver transplantation as well as the care of patients with autoimmune and cholestatic liver disease including primary biliary cirrhosis and primary sclerosing cholangitis. In addition to patient care, I have an interest in medical education. Because new treatments and discoveries are constantly being made within the field of hepatology, I am continually learning and enjoy sharing this knowledge with patients, families, and medical trainees.
