He majored in biomedical engineering at Duke University, where he briefly played for the Blue Devils under Coach K. Dr. Payne then attended the University of North Carolina School of Medicine.His postgraduate training included an orthopaedic residency at Yale School of Medicine and a fellowship in shoulder surgery and sports medicine at the Hospital for Special Surgery in New York City. During his fellowship, he had the opportunity to work with the New York Mets.Dr. Payne specializes in elbow, knee, and shoulder treatments. His approach combines the latest specialized care with the compassion he'd want for his own family. Nothing brings him more satisfaction than seeing patients overcome pain and resume their favorite activities.Outside of work, Dr. Payne cherishes time with his family, including annual spring break trips.
