Overview

Hearing and balance are among the most fundamental ways people interact with the world. As an ENT doctor, otologist, and neurotologist, I am very fortunate to work in a profession that allows me to help patients having problems with these most basic functions. Every patient I work with presents a unique and challenging problem that needs a creative solution. Whether is it surgery to remove a complex tumor at the base of the skull, placing a cochlear implant to restore hearing to the deaf, or diagnosing a complex balance problem, I am motivated to work with my patients to come up with a custom solution to their personal problem. I measure my success by my patients’ improvement and satisfaction.

Our ability to hear and communicate in our world are some of the most defining qualities of what it means to be a human and create the foundation of our social interactions. Helping people restore or improve these abilities to enhance their quality of life is what motivated me to become an otologist and neurotologist. I value each and every patient relationship and keep it centered on shared decision-making and evidence-based care that results in the best individual outcome. I feel privileged to help patients with a wide breadth of disorders related to the hearing and balance systems, from common issues such as hearing loss that requires cochlear implantation to rare ones like vestibular schwannomas (acoustic neuromas) and cerebrospinal fluid leaks. I also have a unique experience with and passion for treating patients with superior semicircular canal dehiscence. One of the wonderful features of my practice is the opportunity to collaborate with colleagues in a truly multidisciplinary manner to provide superb, multifaceted, and personalized care for each patient. Outside of work, I find great joy in being an avid outdoor enthusiast with my wife and our black lab. Dr. Formeister is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Vertigo. His top areas of expertise are Vertigo, Hearing Loss, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, Meniere Disease, and Laryngectomy.

We live in a noisy world, one in which sound and our hearing abilities shape the way we communicate and interact with one another. As an ear, nose, and throat doctor and otologist, I am privileged to provide medical and surgical care to patients with ear diseases and disorders of hearing and balance, including cochlear implants and other implantable hearing devices. Every patient presents their own unique circumstances and challenges, and I am committed to providing empathetic and individualized care to meet a patient’s unique needs. I value a strong relationship with my patients and try to treat every patient as I would my own family. As a clinician-scientist with interests in the fundamental mechanisms of hearing and verbal communication, I try to bring the same level of inquisitiveness to solving my patient’s problems that I use in all aspects of my professional life. When not seeing patients, I spend my research time trying to better understand how we hear and finding better ways to improve hearing and communication. Dr. Eliades is rated as an Advanced provider by MediFind in the treatment of Vertigo. His top areas of expertise are Infant Hearing Loss, Vertigo, Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo, DFNB1, and Myringotomy.
