
Overview
Emily Barnard, D.O. , FACOG, earned her doctorate of osteopathic medicine from Kansas City University of Medicine and Biosciences, ranking in the top five of her graduating class of 227 students. It was there that Dr. Barnard first experienced the joy of sharing news of a pregnancy with a couple who struggled with infertility and was inspired to pursue reproductive endocrinology. Dr. Barnard returned to her home state of Minnesota for her residency in obstetrics and gynecology at the Mayo Clinic. During her residency, Dr. Barnard was awarded the 2016 Mayo International Health Program Scholarship to fund her travels to Kampala, Uganda, for an obstetrics elective. That same year, she earned the 2016 Pfizer President’s Award from the Society for Reproductive Investigation, which was awarded to the 25 most meritorious abstracts submitted by investigators in training to encourage consideration of a research career. Following her distinguished residency, Dr. Barnard completed her fellowship in reproductive endocrinology and infertility at UPMC Magee-Womens Hospital in Pittsburgh. Dr. Barnard is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and reproductive endocrinology and infertility. Her passion for reproductive endocrinology blossomed from the field’s mix of cutting-edge science with a compassionate human touch, and her clinical interests include fertility preservation, polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), and optimizing pregnancy outcomes after assisted reproduction. Dr. Barnard holds leadership positions in several professional organizations, including the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons, Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility, American Society for Reproductive Medicine, and American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists. An ardent advocate for those struggling with infertility, Dr. Barnard can be found participating at events with RESOLVE: The National Infertility Association. She has also traveled across the country presenting on topics including fertility preservation, endometriosis, and uterine fibroids. Dr. Barnard sees patients at SGF’s Towson offices. In her free time, she enjoys traveling, trying new recipes, boating, yoga/barre, playing the cello, and cheering on both local and Minnesota sports teams. She resides in Silver Spring, MD, with her husband and son.

Lauren Roth, M.D. completed her undergraduate degree in Women’s Studies at the University of Maryland, College Park, where she graduated magna cum laude and inducted into Phi Beta Kappa. She earned her Medical Degree from the University of Maryland, Baltimore. She continued on to the University of Colorado, Denver where she completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology and a 3 years fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She then served as an Assistant Professor at University of Colorado for 2 years before moving back to Maryland. Dr. Roth is board certified in both Obstetrics and Gynecology and Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. During her residency, Dr. Roth received several teaching awards and served as chief resident. During her fellowship and time as faculty at University of Colorado, she presented research at multiple national meetings and received three national research awards. Dr. Humm completed her undergraduate degree at Yale University and then earned her medical degree from Vanderbilt University School of Medicine. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Harvard Medical School in Boston, Massachusetts where she was elected Administrative Chief Resident. Dr. Humm is a member of several professional organizations, including the American Society for Reproductive Medicine (ASRM), the American Congress of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG), and the Society for Reproductive Endocrinology and Infertility. She has published abstracts and papers on topics including preimplantation genetic testing, in-vitro fertilization (IVF) outcomes, and the influence of race and ethnicity on IVF outcomes. Washingtonian magazine has regularly recognized Dr. Humm as a Top Doctor in infertility. Originally from Bethesda, Maryland, Dr. Humm lives with her family approximately one mile from her childhood home.
