Dr. Phuong Sutherland

Phuong T. Sutherland, MS, MD, is an internist with Atlantic Medical Group (AMG). Board-certified in internal medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine, she has more than 20 years of experience admitting, evaluating, diagnosing, treating, and providing consultation to adolescent and adult patients with common and complex illnesses, diseases, and functional disorders of the circulatory, respiratory, endocrine, metabolic, musculoskeletal, hematopoietic, gastroenteric, neurologic, and genitourinary systems. She also assesses, stabilizes, and determines the disposition of patients with emergent conditions consistent with medical staff policy regarding emergency and consultative call services. She is dedicated to providing compassionate, personalized care to all patients and ensuring they are educated about their condition and treatment. After obtaining a BS in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Vermont and an MS in Nutritional Sciences from the University of Washington, Dr. Sutherland attended a premedical program at Columbia University. She then earned her medical degree at MCP-Hahnemann School of Medicine before performing an internal medicine residency at George Washington University. Prior to joining AMG, she served as an attending physician at Maimonides Medical Center, including various roles such as Simulation Lab clinical instructor, Albert Einstein School of Medicine clinical preceptor, inpatient faculty hospitalist, Internal Medicine Hospitalist Service associate director, rapid response team attending, and code team attending. She has also served as a research assistant, research dietitian, and crew chief at various medical institutions. She has authored multiple peer-reviewed publications and abstracts, delivered numerous presentations, and is a participating provider of the Atlantic Accountable Care Organization.
