I’ve been interested in medicine ever since I was a child. I see medicine as being an ideal opportunity to do something interesting because I don’t think there’s anything more interesting than the human body and fixing it when it’s not working correctly. As the director of Duke’s Cardiac Intensive Care Unit, I see patients in the intensive care unit, but also see patients in the clinic. When I first meet a patient, the most important thing for me is to establish trust and understanding with them.
