Dr. Dequincy A. Lewis

I mainly treat patients with genitourinary cancers including prostate, kidney, bladder, testicular and penile cancer.  My goal is to be attentive and devoted to my patients who are often dealing with complicated health problems. I try to personalize my care because every patient is different. I believe the future is promising because new treatments are being discovered every day. I am involved in clinical trials done through Duke University.  Clinical trials are designed to provide patients with access to the newest possible treatments. I am also part of our multi-disciplinary cancer team including urologic oncologists, geneticists, radiation oncologists, pathologists, radiologists, and other specialists.  I grew up in Cary and did all of my medical training in the Research Triangle Park area. I devote over half of my time to understanding how prostate cancer spreads and resists therapies, as well as methods of measuring this biology in patients, which may lead to improved therapies designed to block this process. Outside of work, I have a busy family life with three children, and a wife who is a Duke pediatrician. I enjoy playing soccer and hiking.
