Overview
Grace Lopez, MD, earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina. She completed her residency in General Surgery at Emory University and her fellowship in Minimally Invasive Bariatric and Foregut Surgery at the University of Washington. She received her dual undergraduate degree in Neuroscience and Behavioral Biology and Music Performance from Emory University and is board certified in general surgery.
Dr. Lopez specializes in the multi-disciplinary treatment and management of morbid obesity. Prior to joining Piedmont, Dr. Lopez worked as a general and bariatric surgeon with The Southeast Permanente Medical Group. She is an active member of multiple surgical societies: American College of Surgeons, American Society of Metabolic and Bariatric Surgeons, and the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons.
In her spare time, Dr. Lopez enjoys spending time with her family, exercising, traveling, and enjoying the outdoors.

Dr. Aryaie received his undergraduate degree from the University of Georgia, then attended Ross University School of Medicine, where he graduated in the top 5 percent of his class. He completed his residency at The Jewish Hospital, an affiliate of University of Cincinnati. Once he finished his fellowship at one of the top prestigious MIS/Bariatric fellowships in the United States, he joined Texas Tech University Health Science Center as assistant professor of surgery where he served as Medical Director and Chief of Bariatric and Minimally Invasive Surgery at University Medical Center from 2016 to 2019 before moving back to Atlanta.Dr. Aryaie has done extensive research, published multiple publications and has been featured during national presentations regarding bariatrics and minimally invasive surgery.
