Overview
Ira Kohn, MD, is a board certified urologist who provides care for men and women. He specializes in treating urologic conditions that include benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH), kidney stones, erectile dysfunction including Peyronie’s disease, urinary tract infections, overactive bladder, kidney cancer, prostate cancer and bladder cancer. He also performs routine and advanced surgical procedures including laparoscopic surgery, laser surgery, REZUM and minimally invasive BPH treatments, vasectomy, circumcision, hydrocele repair, sacral neuromodulation (Interstim) and BOTOX® bladder injections.|Dr. Kohn attended the Rutgers New Jersey Medical School in Newark. He completed his residency at Temple University Hospital in Philadelphia and a fellowship in neuro and reconstructive urology at Columbia New York-Presbyterian Hospital.|Dr. Kohn believes in a comprehensive, holistic approach to treating patients and their urologic conditions, in addition to managing their disease processes. He also treats patients and their families with the genuine compassion, courtesy and respect he’d like for his own family members when they seek treatment. He encourages patients to be active, motivated participants in their own care and seeks to empower them with education to make important decisions. He enjoys connecting and interacting with patients on a personal level and forming strong, lasting relationships.

I give my patients ample time to discuss all their issues and make sure that when they leave their visit, their disease, their plan and their potential courses of action are clear. Also, I am a member of the genitourinary cancer multidisciplinary consultation team. Together we review your diagnostic information and give you a written opinion reflecting the scope of your condition and recommendations for your best course of care. | Why I entered medicine | I entered medicine to make a difference in the lives of people suffering from disease. I do that clinically and through research of novel concepts, devices and medications. | Community involvement | I am a member of the Leonard Pool Society, a philanthropic group for Lehigh Valley Health Network. I am also involved in organizing community information and screenings for urology. | Personal interests | I enjoy time with my family, rowing and participating in most water sports.
